Surgical technique

After a small incision is made to expose the knee the first jig is applied The bone is cut to accommodate the components Click here for a more detailed demonstration of the bone preparation

A picture of the resected bone showing wear of the cartilage down to bone The tibial components include a metal baseplate and a polyethylene liner These a assembled prior to cementing

Cement is then applied to the components and then inserted into postion and held until the cement is set (approximately 10 minutes)
