Acromioclavicular joint

Acute Repair (reconstruction) of the Acromio-clavicular (AC) Joint

Anatomy of the AC joint

Note the position of the "coraco-clavicular ligament" (CC Lig). This is a very important ligament in supporting the clavicle and therefore maintaining the position of the acromio-clavicular joint (AC Jt)

The simplified diagram demonstrated the
  1. "coraco-clavicular ligament" (CC Lig)
  2. the acromio-clavicular joint (AC Jt)
  3. Bones of the clavicle and acromion

In a grade 3 dislocation of the AC Jt the CC Lig is completely torn ant the AC JT is therefore dislocated.

#3 techniques of reconstruction of the AC Jt

Reconstruction of the acute dislocation of the AC Jt is performed using a dissolvable PDS tape. The tape is passed around the coracoid and the clavicle.
