Cryo/Cuff system applies controlled "safe compression" to
minimize bleeding and swelling, and cold to minimise pain.
Its simplicity makes it ideal for the operating theatre,
post-op, and home.
The Cryo/Cuff is a cuff which contains water specially
designed for a shoulder surgery. It applies compression to
to a minimize bleeding and swelling, and cold to minimise
pain.
It consists of the cuff which covers the shoulder with
pressurised ice water and a cooler which contains water and
ice.
After the cuff is secured the cooler is a elevated the icy
cold water into the cuff and this would compress the
shoulder. The body heat will warm the cuff up within 15 to
30 minutes after the initial application. The warmed water
is drained and re-chilled by lowering the cooler to the
floor for a couple of minutes. The cooler is then raised and
chilled water flows back into the cuff. The recommend
application is for 20 imminence several times to be a day,.
However experience with knee surgery indicates that early
and continuous use of the cuff reduces swelling and pain.

Shoulder Cryo / Cuff
An insulated jug
holds up to 4 litres of ice and water -
enough for 8 hours of therapy. |
| Elevating the
cooler fills and pressurizes the cuff.
Compression is controlled by gravity, and is
proportional to the elevation of the
cooler. For example, if the cooler is 20"
above the cuff during filling, the applied
compression will be approximately 35mm Hg
(1" elevation = 1.8 mm Hg pressure). When
body heat warms the water, it is re-chilled
simply by lowering the cooler. |

| The Cryo/Cuff
system contains 3 basic components:
1. Cuff-
covers the injured area.
2. Cooler-
holds enough water and ice for 6 to 8 hours
of cryotherapy.
3. Tube-
exchanges the water between cooler and cuff. |
