To make more room for the rotator cuff to prevent pinching of the tendon, a decompression is performed. The soft tissue are first removed using a VAPR.

Once the underlying bone and spur is exposed, the bone can be removed using a bur.

At  the end of the procedure a catheter is sometime inserted into the bursa to inject local anaesthetic. A device filled with the local can be carried around for 24 to 48 hours. (pain buster)

The VAPR System's bipolar design safely removes and coagulates soft tissue, providing simultaneous haemostasis, even for inflamed synovial and bursal tissue

Acromioplasty

The spurs and any prominence of the acromion is removed with a burr- this is called an acromioplasty

The acromioplasty

The acromion is shaved smooth
